Showing respect for Nature and the Environment is one of our brand’s foremost values.
That is why Cottage has always done its utmost to promote initiatives that will contribute in preserving the Environment.
Accordingly, Cottage has been developing an eco-designing approach in order to reduce the environmental impact of its products throughout their life cycle.
Eco-designing means taking a product’s impact on the environment into account at the designing or the re-designing stage. It is a preventive approach distinguished by an overall perspective, taking into account the product’s entire life cycle (from the extraction of raw materials to the product’s ultimate elimination) and all environmental criteria (the use of raw materials, water and energy, the discharges into the water and the air, waste production, etc.).
Ingredients that are friendly to the environment and to biodiversity
Selecting ingredients that are friendly to the environment and to biodiversity when developing our products is one of our priorities.
Accordingly Cottage has, for its organic-certified Bio range, created formulae made up at 99% of plant ingredients, 10% of which come from organic farming.
Moreover, we have launched an extra-nourishing oil shower range made up at 98% of plant raw materials harvested through environmentally-friendly methods.
Eco-designed bottles
The packaging of our shower gels is fully recyclable, both the bottle and the cap.
In keeping with an ever-increasing commitment towards the Environment, and as a result of a study conducted to find out precisely how every shower gel is manufactured and to know its carbon footprint, Cottage has decided, starting in 2010, to reduce its packaging in order to save on resources and to limit waste production. By reducing the quantity of plastic used in each 250ml bottle of shower gel by 4 grams, we should ultimately cut our plastic waste by 10 tonnes per annum. This initiative for Nature will not only help reduce our plastic waste, but will also reduce the quantity of raw materials used and the fuel consumption required in transporting those goods.
Recyclable or recycled materials
We favour recyclable or recycled materials in our packaging:
Choosing large sizes
For our oil showers, made up at 98% of natural ingredients, we have chosen a 560ml large-size bottle that is more ecological and economical.
We have also used a large 750ml size for our new Shower & Bath range. Since it is more suitable to family needs and more economical, this size also helps to reduce plastic waste.
Responsible partners
Lastly, we choose partners who share our commitments. Accordingly, all of the printers that we work with are Imprim’vert-certified.
Imprim’vert-certified suppliers are suppliers who, among other things, have made a commitment not to use toxic products, and who manage their waste in compliance with environmentally-friendly standards.
Inside our offices
A waste-sorting policy has been implemented throughout the company.
The Panther Group also favours the sustainable management of natural resources through the use of PEFC-labelled (Pan European Forest Council) or FSC-labelled (Forest Stewardship Council) paper and cartons. This paper comes from forests that are sustainably managed, meaning that the forests are managed and used in such a way and to such an extent that their biodiversity, their productivity and their regenerative capacity are maintained, and that they do not prejudice other ecosystems.
Lastly, we fully participate in the Programme français de valorisation des emballages ménagers (French household packaging recycling scheme).
By contributing to the Eco-Emballages programme (Eco-Packaging), businesses take part in recycling all of the packaging that they put on the market. In exchange for their financial support, companies may affix the Eco-Emballages logo on their products. The funds collected by Eco-Emballages are donated to local authorities who use them to implement the selective collection of household packaging throughout France and Europe.
